The Sate of New York requires employers to purchase State Disability Benefits for their employees also known as DBL. DBL Coverage provide coverage for those employees who are disabled and as a result are out of work for an extended period of time. Under DBL the disability can result from an injury or illness not resulting from an act which is employment related. To quantify the accurate compensation which the employee will receive, the employee's salary and employment tenure are calculated. The duration of the payment is generally limited to six months.
